One where you can make an honest living doing honest work.
If all those Get Rich Quick schemes really
work, why are the sellers telling you about them for a few dollars?
The only thing they are getting rich from is selling you bogus
information. Home
inspection is a real business! With the proper guidance and some
good old fashioned hard work, you can earn a decent living.
Almost every day, seven days
a week, 365 days a year, I talk on the phone with new inspectors from
all over the United States, Canada, the UK, and Australia. The questions are almost
always the same, "How much should I charge for an inspection" What size
ad should I put in the yellow pages", "How should I market my services",
What tools should I have" and so on. I know what it is like
to be just starting out, trying to make all the right decisions.
I
didn't always have the answers. Most of them came to me through
the long process of trial and error.
During an e-mail
conversation with a new inspector, I laid down for him a list of the things
that I think have helped me to succeed and the pitfalls I have seen
other new inspectors make that have put them out of business almost as
fast as they got into it. This is a very short straight to the
point article of only around 1800 words. It isn't going to take
hours for you to read and digest. It will take you only minutes to
read but I am confident that you will carry some of these ideas with you
for a very long time.
My goal is not to make a lot of money on this article. In fact, if
eBay were to allow free listings, I would post this and distribute it
for free. I have it priced to cover my selling expenses, not to
make a profit on it. I would post a link on my other listings to a
location where you could download the file for free but, that would be a
violation of eBay's rules. My goal is to dispel some of the myths
that new home inspectors believe and to give you some ideas that will
help set you in the right direction.
A little bit about me and my company. I have been in
construction, engineering, and maintenance for more than 30 years.
I started in the military at Fort Leonard Wood's electrical school in
1974. After doing a variety of different construction and
engineering related things over the years, including owning and
operating an electrical contracting company, I finally got to the point
where I could do what I really want to to. In February of 2000, I

doing home and commercial building inspections and helping other get
into the business and succeeding at it. I also teach and
create training materials for all the skilled trades; my main focus
being on home and commercial building inspection. I am also the

and helping others who want to get into this business. I
continue to learn new things all the time. Home inspection is one
of the fastest growing business opportunities in North America.
